The expiry date is printed to indicate when your ZYN pouches may begin to reduce in quality of nicotine strength, flavour profile, and the texture of the pouch itself. An out of date nicotine pouch may experience a change in texture, taste or nicotine strength.

When do nicotine pouches expire?

ZYN nicotine pouches have a shelf-life of up to 12 months from the date of production. You will find a best before date on each can to indicate when they should be used by. 

In order to keep your nicotine pouches fresh for as long as possible, it is important to store them correctly.

Keep the lid of your can closed and avoid storing in hot places or direct sunlight, opting instead to keep the pouch can somewhere cool and dry where possible. Do not put used ZYN pouches back into the main compartment of the can as the moisture and saliva may contaminate the rest of the pouches. Instead, place used pouches in the waste compartment at the top until you can dispose of them in a bin. And finally, always ensure nicotine pouches are kept out of the way of children or pets. 

Signs of Expired Nicotine Pouches

If you’re unsure about the freshness of your nicotine pouches, or if they haven’t been stored correctly, there are some tell-tale signs that they may have expired:

• Texture: An out of date nicotine pouch may have lost some of its moisture, resulting in a slightly drier or firmer pouch that could be difficult to use
• Flavour: Expired nicotine pouches often diminish in flavour intensity, meaning you may not experience the same taste you would with a fresh can
• Strength: The strength of the nicotine within the pouch begins to degrade after the stated expiration date
• Colour/smell: If there is any change in colour or smell to your pouches – this may be a sign that your pouches are past their expiration date

Can you use expired ZYN?

It is not recommended to use expired nicotine pouches. The pouch may have dried out or had a change in texture, flavour, or even nicotine strength.

What to do with out of date nicotine pouches

Use of nicotine pouches past their expiration date is not recommended, and you should dispose of them and recycle the can. Nicotine pouches must go in household waste, while the can itself can be recycled.
