This is NOT a proposal writing class -- it is, rather, a psychology and
marketing class to teach SBIR applicants how to "push the reviewer's
buttons" via the proposal document. Accomplishing this requires a
different understanding of the process (than the Agencies reveal), a lot
of homework and many hours of very specific preparation of which most are
simply not aware.
Historically, only 1 in 9 applications wins funding -- come to this event
and learn how to be that "1". This information is NOT taught anywhere
else. If you attend and believe that you've not received what we promised
herein, we will refund your money -- your satisfaction is 100% guaranteed
(as is everything we do/sell).
SPONSORS: Maryland TEDCO and PG County Economic Development Corporation
NOTE: We are looking for local economic development sponsors for this, and
other, SBIR events in the Western part of the USA (New Mexico to
Montana). Please see http://www.sbir.us/course/workquot.html for reviews

Learn to write a winning proposal and plan by participating in the ASU
Technopolis SBIR/STTR Phase I Proposal Writing Workshop and
Technology/Product Roadmap Planning Program!
On Thursday, August 27, 2009, attendees will learn to write a winning
proposal by participating in the SBIR/STTR Phase I Workshop, which is an
exclusive eight-hour session targeting early-stage, first-time or
unsuccessful writers of SBIR/STTR Phase I proposals. It offers
participants a structured SBIR/STTR grant-writing methodology
demonstrated to be highly successful.
The SBIR and STTR programs can be essential in supporting business and
product strategies with funding from the federal government, as an
alternative to or in coordination with other forms of business financing.
Following the SBIR/STTR workshop, participants will learn to write
winning technology/product roadmap plan by participating in the
Technology/Product Roadmap Planning Program on Friday, August 28, 2009.
The purpose of the 8-hour workshop is to help early stage ventures
improve the planning of their products and technologies and to
communicate to key stakeholders its technology innovations and
commercialization position. Participants will be shown how to apply
Technology/Product Roadmap Planning to increase their SBIR/STTR
successes. This workshop will assist with proposals companies are
preparing for federal stimulus dollars.
Workshop – In a classroom setting with other ventures, technology
entrepreneurs are introduced to Technology Roadmap Planning methodology.
The process is very structured and based upon a proven Roadmap planning
approach that has been tested with hundreds of technology and life
science ventures. A Technology Roadmap containing market, product,
technology and research elements that can holistically integrate the
specific needs, drivers and dependencies of the venture’s ideas. A multi-
disciplinary team from the venture is encouraged to attend this workshop.
One-on-One Coaching: Classroom teaching is supplemented with one-on-one
coaching.
At the conclusion of this workshop, participants will have an
understanding of the benefits of, and the early skills to use, roadmaps
to focus, plan, communicate and position their innovations and inventions
in research and development proposals, business plans and business
development presentations. They will be better able to describe their
work plans for proposals, increasing their probability of selection for
awards. They will be able to better articulate their sustainable
competitive advantages of their proposed business, increasing their
probability of raising necessary funds, and they will be able to crisply
and clearly describe to customers compelling value propositions that can
increase sales. Other benefits include tools that aid the entrepreneur in
structuring win-win strategic alliances, skills essential for technology-
based businesses to grow.
