Sep 2 - 5, 20082008 DoD SBIR Beyond Phase II:Palm Desert, CA
The 2008 National SBIR Beyond Phase II Conference & Exhibition: Partnering to Advance Innovation will be held Tuesday-Friday, September 2-5, 2008 at the Desert Springs JW Marriott, Palm Desert, California. Hosted by the Department of Defense, with support from all 11 SBIR agencies, this event will focus exclusively on transitioning current Phase II technologies into the military and private sector commercial use.

This year’s Conference and Exhibition will bring together recent SBIR Phase II award recipients, large Federal contractors, other middle market companies and systems developers, investment firms and companies providing services, products and technology to Phase II awardees. We start with the basics of SBIR/STTR, and cover a four- step process for developing a competitive Phase I proposal. All materials and lunch are furnished. Cost $99 per person. We will have legal professionals speaking about intellectual property protection and a program director addressing proposal review.

This workshop can help your business move from SBIR applicant to awardee. It is for early-stage, first-time or unsuccessful writers of SBIR Phase I proposals. Space is limited to 40 participants.

The program will focus on two areas key to winning SBIR funding: the work plan and the commercialization plan. You will learn how to integrate knowledge of the state-of-the-art with the work plan, and how to master requirements unique to different federal agencies. Participants will receive guidance in researching government organizations, topics and financial and administrative requirements and will explore some specific steps to attract commercialization partners, even at the Phase I stage of the SBIR Program.

This interactive workshop, with in-class exercises, uses tools and techniques that help in writing more successful proposals. Each major proposal section will be considered in detail. You will walk away with the essential elements of your Phase I proposal outlined.

Day one of this event will be our most popular workshop on preparing a Phase 1 proposal for SBIR/STTR funding. Whether you're an SBIR/STTR novice or a hardened veteran who wants to hone your skills, this comprehensive day covers everything from the basics of SBIR/STTR to a logical four-step process for preparing a competitive Phase 1 proposal. Government accounting, and SBIR/STTR cost proposals are challenging stuff, and very important to making sure that you don't go broke trying to complete an SBIR/STTR project.
