Background
Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory, administered by the University
of California, is one of the world's largest research and development
laboratories, with 8,000 full-time employees and a budget of $1.1
billion. The laboratory is located in the San Francisco Bay area,
near Silicon Valley, several world-class universities, and many
other research facilities.
Mission
The Mission of the Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory is to
serve as a national resource in science and engineering, focused
on national security, energy, the environment, and biomedicine,
with a special responsibility for nuclear weapons. Our programs
are structured to enhance economic competitiveness and to nurture
science education.
