| The Far West Bulletin Spring 1996
From: Brenda Karasik Since becoming the Far West Regional Coordinator on January 1, 1996, there have been many developments in the region. As with any change in people, new support contracts, new ways of doing things and new focuses have to be determined. In direct support of your comments in my initial email to the laboratories, I've focused on getting the information out to you. Efforts include: establishing a Far West Regional Roundtable (I encourage you to use that capability), putting the FW home page on-line and producing the quarterly newsletter. Again, access to information was a key request from the majority of you. You were also concerned about the shrinking travel dollars available to support FLC activities. We canceled the meeting tentatively scheduled for February in the hope of encouraging as much participation as possible at the FLC national spring conference being held in our region. We will have a FW Region business meeting on Monday, May 6, 1996, in the afternoon. I encourage you to attend. We will be reviewing the current budget, new initiatives, what your needs are, ways of leveraging off each others' capabilities and how our goals for the region will support the national FLC strategic plan, etc. Please come to the meeting with your great ideas and be prepared to participate. I would like to have your comments about the format and content of the newsletter. What do you want or don't want to see in the newsletter? Remember, this is designed to help you! Please contact me at (619) 553-2101; fax: (619) 553-6924; email: brenda@nosc.mil. I am enthusiastic about being Coordinator and working with each of you. This coming year will be very challenging, but hopefully, rewarding.
